It could perhaps be a hardware problem in the input stage on the motherboard, for example one or more damaged capacitors that need to be replaced. Check also the mic input, if it works well it means that the problem is only on the guitar input which is equipped with an analog circuit with variable impedance (try changing the impedance value via the input setting). You can also try reinstalling the firmware and then doing a global reset (but first save your presets on the computer), I don't think it will help in this case but you never know. Is your device connected to your computer by any chance? Is it possible that the last time you used it you tried an IR loader plugin and therefore you set (and forgot) the hardware monitoring volume to zero via the Line6 driver control panel? (If so, turn the hardware monitoring volume back up to maximum). Im my opinion a "fuzz with an octave below" is the key element to easily get that Moog type sound you can hear starting at around 3:12 of Let It Happen by Time Impala. Eg my modeler includes the PAiA Roctave Divider model called Sub Octave Fuzz which works very well in this case. You're right, I use a HD500X and I didn't remember that the HD300 didn't have the MF EQ. But I think that the HD300 should be equipped at least with the Vintage Pre which also contains a Low Pass Filter which you could use for the same purpose. Try putting a MID FOCUS EQ after the pre-amp in your POD patch to use its included Low Pass Filter (sort of like a HIGH CUT). By default, two MF EQ parameters that are not needed in this case are active and therefore must first be neutralized by setting them to zero: the GAIN and HP FREQ. Pressing the left navigation pad while turning on the device (as you did) is a procedure for the POD known as "Global Parameter Reset" which generally should be performed every time the firmware is updated/installed (and which should always be followed by the "Pedal Calibration" procedure) to avoid malfunctions.
